A Level 1 out of 5 Marginal risk has been issued for parts of Central Illinois, including the Pana area. Models show the potential for damaging winds from afternoon into the evening (2-5).
With surface instability around 1200 j/kg, steep lapse rates, and an inverted V sounding profile, it appears that the primary concern is damaging winds. There’s also a slight possibility of a few “cold air” funnels forming, with a small chance of a landspout tornado. Overall severe threat looks to be just East of the Pana area, but severe weather can’t be ruled out and will need to be monitored.
