Severe weather is likely across the Pana area Friday evening. A fast-moving line of storms is expected to track across the area between 7-10 PM.
At this time, the Storm Prediction Center has a Level 4/5 Moderate Risk over the area, mainly for damaging straight-line winds in excess of 70 mph. Although damaging winds are the primary concern, tornadoes are possible, especially embedded in the line of storms and can spin up quickly with these types of storms.

Regardless of whether we see severe weather, winds will be gusty from Friday into Saturday, with gusts up to 50 mph possible. This is one reason the severe threat is elevated—it won’t take much for storms to bring strong winds from aloft down to the surface, given that strong winds are already in place.
