Severe weather Sunday?

It’s a few days out, but severe thunderstorms are possible across the Pana area on Sunday. This post is just a heads-up, and a more detailed forecast will be provided as we get closer to Sunday.

Currently, the Storm Prediction Center has the Pana area and much of Central and Southern Illinois highlighted for potential severe weather on Sunday. Looking at the data as I write this, it appears the late evening could be active as thunderstorms move across the area.

Hazards include damaging winds, large hail, and even the risk of tornadoes. There are still many questions regarding storm type (e.g., line or isolated supercells), as well as the timing and coverage of the storms.

While I don’t expect a widespread outbreak across the area, I’ll continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
